So from my earlier report, the weather did exactly what was supposed to happen. It got stronger. Pont(POL126) was once again the maestro. Taking a first by such a long margin that it was hard to see the rest of the fleet. But then slipping to an 8th place in the second race. Leaving him on equal points with Joao Rodriguez(POR75) who took a third and a first. Ricardo Santos (BRA1)-also known as ¨BIMBA¨- and Gal freidman scored the two bullets for the second mens fleet. The womens racing is showing a change of the guard with the long time stalwarts Barbara Kendall(NZL15), Jessica Crisp(AUS15),Alessandra Sensini(ITA25) all placing within the top 6 places. But the big news is the two teenagers who are rocking out to meet the challenge. The eighteen year old Lee Korsitz(1SR1111) is currently in 1st place by a margin of 6 points and Zofia Klepacka(POL8) aged 17 is placed in 4th. Lee´s background was previously in freestyle, and funboard, but has been a training machine. Getting stronger and more lean over the past 12 months. Zofia once sporting Dread locks has opted for the close cropped look, And is the three time ISAF Youth World Champion.
Saying all this The depth of talent is greater than ever before. The class is being re-invented all the time and it is showing that 35 year old mothers as well as 17 year old girls can all win races.
